Haritha Karma Sena is an initiative operating in the sanitation and waste management sector in local self-government institutions in Kerala. Haritha Karma Sena units were formed in local bodies in 2017 as part of the 'Haritha Keralam Mission' project implemented by the Government of Kerala

Haritha Karma Sena members directly collect inorganic waste (and organic waste in some places) from households and institutions by levying the service fee (user fee) fixed by the local self-government institutions as per government orders

Haritha Keralam Mission, Kudumbashree, Suchitwa Mission, Clean Kerala Company, and local self-government institutions are all partners in this massive project

Through the Haritha Karma Sena system, tons of waste are being processed in the state. Haritha Karma Sena strives to achieve self-sufficiency by manufacturing new products from waste, promoting recycling, and launching innovative green enterprises

Currently, more than 36,000 Haritha Karma Sena members are operating across all local self-government institutions in the state. The necessary infrastructure, vehicles, uniforms, identity cards, and other facilities are provided to them under the leadership of the local self-government institutions.
