History of Grama Panchayat
Kadaplamattom was originally known as ‘Padathalamattam’ (meaning a field of war or military camp), serving as a major hub for powerful local rulers and chieftains. Local place names such as Bhagavathikunnu and Vedikunnu still point to this historical era of warfare. Around 1000 AD, a Christian church that existed here was destroyed during a war. It was later rebuilt under the leadership of Pothiyittel Thomman Tharyathu Kathanar, with the formal permission of a local chieftain named Thumbayil Kaimal.
